Sophie Bullen
Sophie Bullen, Australian born, contemporary artist based in the Nillumbik Shire. Her practice explores the quiet vitality of the natural world; humus, leaf matter, light filtered through suspended matter.
Her work reflects a spirit of reverence and is the result of discovery, grounded in the rural landscape she inhabits.
Using oil, natural polymer and raw pigment, Bullen builds and subtracts in layered subtle gestures, letting light through, allowing the conversation of form to speak for itself in abstracted expression.
She is currently a two-year artist-in-residence at the Dunmoochin Foundation.
